2025 Staircase Trends

With the hallway being one of the first rooms that anyone sees when coming to the home it’s now been seen as much more of an opportunity to make a statement.

As we come into a new year the bold patterns and darker colours are making the entry to the hallways. I’m seeing more and more interest in the black Spindles of all shapes and sizes coupled with bold wallpapers, venetian plaster and bold patterned carpet designs. It’s been quite a long time since patterned carpets have been around but they are back with a bang and I love them. I’m lucky enough to see many finished jobs and get to pop in and after all the décor has been completed so I get to see just what people are doing with their home renovations.

I don’t think with the new dark colours coming in to popularity you can ever count out the Oak and Glass. The glass fitted in handrail and baserail grooves really lends itself to awkward shapes and creates light and space in the smallest of hallways. Its timeless and elegant finish means it fits in well in a rustic barn conversion to a modern minimalistic new build, this style has no boundaries. There is the clamped glass version also that adds brushed or chrome finish metal clamps which are starting to gain popularity in black now also. These metal accents with a metal cap allow customers to tie the staircase into light switch, socket and lighting styles and not forgetting the festive fairy lights!!

This brings me to the addition of LED lights into my staircase renovations. The More up to date cob led string lights are bright enough to be seen in quite a bright hallway when wanted to be seen in daylight hours but can also give your staircase the low mood lighting in an evening. I think that lighting now will always be a popular addition to me renovations.

The present times with the cost of living being in the back of everyone’s minds moving home sometimes isn’t the best option and money spent on a staircase renovation while adding more usable storage space under the stairs. This can be really utilised with heavy-duty pull-out drawers with cloak racks and show shelves. Awkward gas and electric meters can be hidden away with easy access kept but unsightly wires and pipes hidden. I could not talk about the understairs storage though without mentioning that as homes are made with much less ability to make statements and more on developers getting the most out of their builds the understairs area can be opened up for pet homes, office areas with lighting and not least my personal favourite the wine rack / displays with led lighting.
